IRELAND put up a disappointing performance in Surrey this Wednesday when they went down 40-3 to a USA side that they had beaten 22-12 in the pool stage of the Women's Rugby World Cup.
The defeat deprives the Irish of a chance of finishing fifth in the competition but they can have few complaints.
The USA pack had their homework well worked out and were in control in a one-sided first half.
Ireland's only score came from a Niamh Briggs penalty on 29 minutes with the USA leading 14-0.
